Delphi tour, with a stopover at Arachova
We set off early from Athens to Delphi, the ancient "Navel of the Earth", a key point of reference for the ancient Greek world, and not only.
We drive through the plains of Boeotia, passing the towns of Thives (ancient Thebes), Levadia and Arachova.
Beyond Arachova, we reach the world-known ancient sanctuary of Delphi, where Pythia uttered her oracles to those seeking godly advice, be it a commoner or a King. You have plenty of time to explore the Temple of Apollo, the Athenian Treasury and the local museum.
On the return trip, we stop at the picturesque village of Arachova, famous for its hand-woven rugs, where you can also taste the local cuisine at one of the traditional taverns. Don’t miss out on fried formaella cheese while sampling the local wine!
We then visit the Monastery of Holy Luke, on the slope of Helicon Mountain. This is a listed, well-preserved Byzantine monastery with splendid mosaics.
Your driver will then take you to the designated drop-off point.
